When your practice needs performance measurement and client reporting with the power to
handle ever-changing data requirements and the flexibility of truly customizable reporting,
your practice needs Performer.
Performer empowers you to provide timely and focused solutions that answer your most
astute clients' changing needs and requests for customized reports. Performer also comes
with the kind of world-class technical and customer support that only Informa Investment
Solutions can deliver.
The ASP deployment allows you to fully outsource the responsibility for hardware,
software and data maintenance. It is ideal for organizations that do not have dedicated
IT resources as well as those not interested in placing additional strains on their
internal IT staff. With the ASP solution, IIS maintains the hardware, the Performer
software (including all new releases), index data, universe data, as well as third
party software. Rest assured, your valuable data is protected through a nightly back-up process.
Informa Investment Solutions has been providing performance measurement software and
services to both institutional and retail investment professionals since 1976. Our clients
include financial institutions, brokerages, investment management companies, investment consultants,
independent advisors, and pension plan sponsors. Our products and services have a direct impact
on the manner in which our clients interact with the investing public. We take pride in knowing
that, year after year, clients depend on our software and services to fulfill mission-critical operations.
Performer is not only the most comprehensive, but it is also one of the easiest performance
measurement and client reporting systems you can use. Crafted around your specific requirements,
Performer's modular design delivers only those features critical to your environment. Moreover,
an SQL-based, open architecture design allows Performer to capture and infuse data from disparate
sources, including proprietary internal systems and third party vendors.
Data and reporting requirements differ from client to client. To accommodate the unique needs
of individual financial services firms, Performer provides multiple data entry options.
Performer gives you an easy-to-use transaction ledger for capturing data at the asset class level. The data may be captured through:
- an interface with the custody agent
- manual data entry
- Performer's generic spreadsheet upload format
In addition, the positions of the portfolio may be separately entered and maintained to enable
detailed security analysis reporting. You can value portfolios at any point prior to month's end,
allowing for more precise performance calculations in the presence of significant cash flows.
Rates of return are calculated in real time. As the portfolio data is updated, the returns are also updated.
Regardless of the way transactional data is entered, Performer calculates daily time-weighted performance.
The calculation methodology adheres to the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®)
established by the CFA Institute (formerly AIMR). Gross and net of money management fees,
on-time and dollar-weighted bases, and before and after taxes are just a few methods that
Performer offers you to evaluate performance. Rates of return may be calculated at the security,
industry, economic sector, asset class, total portfolio and total client levels. Moreover,
data aggregation may be custom defined for each client, creating practically limitless reporting options.
You can evaluate portfolio performance using the hundreds of market indexes distributed by Performer.
Performer also gives you the ability to input market indexes not currently maintained in the database.
When a static comparison does not suffice, take advantage of Performer's dynamic index creation
capabilities. You can create custom-blended benchmarks comprising any number of market indexes.
Or, define a risk comparison for each asset class in the portfolio and Performer will create a
weighted average index for the portfolio based on its average asset allocation and the risk
indexes assigned to each asset class.
In addition, Performer will create dynamic indexes based on the average allocation across each
account in a client composite. Dynamic index measures are automatically updated once created. These
custom benchmarks may be stored and retrieved for later use.
You can compare the performance of your portfolios within peer group universes. The returns
of disparate universes may be blended together to create a customized universe to match the asset
allocation of your clients' portfolios. Performer's open architecture design provides you with the
ability to import data from your proprietary source, our PSN investment manager database, or from
other universe vendors.
You can use Performer's quadratic optimizer, based on the work of Nobel laureate William Sharpe,
to determine the returns-based style of your portfolios. Style exposure versus any number of market
indexes may be viewed at a point in time or across time within rolling date windows. You define the
market indexes to be included in the analysis and the length of the rolling windows. The analysis
may be displayed in either a tabular or graphic output format.
Included in Performer are all the analytics you will need to provide an accurate depiction
of portfolio performance. Performer's robust statistics library contains all of the calculators
to present absolute, target, and benchmark relative measures and MPT statistics. You are in
complete control of the analysis; you can define the inputs used for each statistic, from date
ranges to comparative data series to the frequency of data to be included. You can even choose
between arithmetic and geometric excess rates of return and much more.
With Performer, you automatically gain access to hundreds of pre-defined report templates,
each offering you a high degree of customization. You are completely in control of the look and
feel of every report, from date ranges to fonts to colors. For an enhanced level of design control,
Performer Report Writer enables you to define the columnar contents of the page. Your client
reports can even include your company logo.
All Performer output may be exported as bitmap images for insertion into any Windows-based software
package. Underlying data used to generate tabular reports may also be exported to Microsoft Excel.
The customized report and graph templates can be saved and used to construct dynamic and informative
client presentations. Each presentation can be customized to suit each portfolio party. You define the
content of each presentation and the frequency with which the presentation is produced.
Performer also enables you to create an executive summary report package containing a limited
number of templates, a comprehensive board report containing dozens of data-intensive, premium
report pages, and more. Performer gives you complete control over the report creation process so
that you can create output tailored to the needs of each client.
In addition to generating client report packages in a one-off mode, you can use Performer's
internal batch production engine to generate large volumes of client reports in a mass production
environment. Portfolios may be manually defined to be included in the production run, or you
can use Performer's query engine to create the portfolio list based on portfolio characteristics.
Performer Producer is a powerful option that gives you the ability to quickly and easily mass-produce
both hard copy and electronic output of your client reports. With Producer, you have the ability to
print hundreds or thousands of client reports as part of a single batch print production.
As each hard-copy client report is produced, a PDF file of the same report package is created. More importantly,
the processing occurs on the server on which Producer is installed. This means that the workstation
on which the batch job was initiated is immediately freed for its next task.
You need not wait for the print jobs to complete.
The PDF files may be used in a variety of fashions:
- Data may be posted on your web site.
- Data may be made accessible via Performer IQ for access by your clients.
- Data may be emailed to your clients.
- Data may be moved to any storage medium for internal records management.
Performer IQ provides remote access to Performer data and client reports within an Internet browser.
Performer IQ may be deployed via your network or it can be deployed via the Informa Investment
Solutions ASP platform. In either case, the Performer IQ shell can be private labeled.
Performer IQ provides access to client data via a library of predefined inquiries.
Each inquiry is designed to display specific data related to the portfolio, its assets,
its transactions, and its performance. Performer IQ also provides you with several options
to change the data display and provides complete drill down capabilities. The inquiries can
be displayed in tabular and graphical form, and tabular inquiries may be exported to Microsoft Excel.
Performer IQ also contains a PDF file catalog where all current and historic client reports are available.
The catalog is populated by Performer Producer, storing customized presentations for each client.
Access may be granted to personnel within your organization, as well as to your end clients.
Access rights assigned to each login enable you to tailor IQ's functionality to the specific
needs of the user. Moreover, you have the ability to enable your end clients to access only
IQ's inquiry library or report catalog.
For an enhanced level of design control, Page Designer is available to customize the content
of the page. This robust module allows you to combine Performer graph and report templates, text boxes,
commentary, and images in a single report page. You have full control to resize each object, drag and
drop objects to any location on the page, and customize the objects. This provides nearly limitless
report tailoring opportunities.
Report templates created using Performer Page Designer can be saved for later use or modified at
any time to meet your changing needs. Furthermore, Performer Page Designer output may be generated
as single templates or bound within client presentations.
